An artificial womb is created to allow a lamb to develop outside the womb.
Physicians at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia worked with 23 week-old lambs to in order test a synthetic device that imitates a woman's uterus, hoping to limit mortality and disease in premature children that are born before 37 weeks.

Where is this all heading? Eventually, babies born to a bottle. Not like my crazy uncle was, these children will be developed without the need for the father, mother, or the baby, to ever meet.
Is there a bond between a mother and child that is created during pregnancy, that would affect the child if missing? Will artificial wombs help bring on an era of designer babies by allowing researchers unprecedented access? Sadly, the answers to these questions are forthcoming.
