Quantum Computing Applications Challenge

March 12, 2024

At its core, quantum computing operates on the principles of quantum mechanics, a branch of physics that describes the bizarre behaviors of energy and particles at the smallest scales. Unlike classical computing, which relies on bits (0s and 1s) for processing information, quantum computing uses quantum bits, or qubits. These qubits can represent and process a vast amount of information at once, thanks to their ability to exist in multiple states simultaneously through a phenomenon known as superposition.

The XPRIZE Quantum Application Challenge is a global competition designed to inspire teams to develop innovative and practical applications for quantum computing. The aim is to accelerate the transition from theoretical models to real-world solutions that can solve complex problems far beyond the reach of today's most advanced supercomputers.
