Recycle PET Bottles Into 3D Printing Filament
January 2, 2025
The world of 3D printing is about to get a lot more sustainable, thanks to the innovative PETFusion 2.0. This all-in-one machine is designed to recycle PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles into custom 3D printing filament. This not only helps reduce plastic waste but also provides a cost-effective solution for filament production.
The latest version includes a motorized bottle cutter, making the process more efficient and user-friendly. One of the standout new features is the filament welder, which seamlessly joins shorter pieces of filament to create longer spools. Users can add their own ink or pigments to the filament, allowing for a wide range of colors and materials. The machine features dual hotends, enabling the production of two strands of filament simultaneously.
How it works: The PET bottle is cut into strips using the motorized cutter. The strips are fed into the extrusion nozzle, where they are melted and formed into filament. The filament passes through an ink-based coloring station, allowing users to customize the color. Shorter pieces of filament are welded together to create longer spools.
By providing a practical and sustainable way to produce custom filament, it paves the way for more eco-friendly and cost-effective 3D printing solutions.
