Italdesign and Airbus have created a novel passenger transportation concept that is part car, part plane.

The idea centers around a comfortable passenger pod that can be placed on a wheeled base for individual ground transportation. The pod could also be attached to quadrcopter for vertical takeoff and landings (VTOL).

Passengers could request their desired form of transportation through their mobile device. The system uses artificial intelligence for self-piloting.

Once passengers reach their destination, the air and ground modules with the capsule autonomously return to dedicated recharge stations to wait for their next customers.

The Pop.Up is another awesome futuristic concept from Airbus. They have created many futuristic transportation concepts in the past, and whether or not these ideas ever become reality, it is interesting to see their vision.
