A Trip to the Moon

March 01, 2017

SpaceX has announced that they have plans to fly two private citizens on a trip around the moon late next year.

Their identities are to be released to the public, if their health and fitness tests are approved and the passenger flight to the moon is confirmed.

The trip around the moon will take about a week and travel around 400,000 miles (650,000 kilometers). Per person, the cost for a flight to the moon is about the same as a Tesla Model S, around (US) $68,000. The return flight, can run up to 1.3 billion. That's a joke of course, SpaceX has not stated what the mission will cost. But, the yet unnamed passengers have "already paid a significant deposit to do a moon mission".

The passengers will be trained on what to do in an emergency, but the SpaceX Crew Dragon piloting is fully automatic.

This marks the first time in history I'm okay with another couple getting seated first.
