The South Pole Energy Challenge
November 20, 2017
This November, explorer Robert Swan and his son will embark on a 600-mile, 60-day journey on foot to the South Pole to highlight the need for clean, renewable energy solutions.
The renewable energy technologies that the pair will use are solar energy and a technology called IH2, that turns solid waste into biofuel. These renewable energy sources will used to generate electricity and heat for charging batteries, warmth, keeping clothes dry, cooking and more, in an extremely harsh environment.
