2018 Drone Racing Championships

128 of the best drone pilots in the world, including 44 teens and 13 women, from 34 countries, gathered to find out who will be the 2018 FAI World Drone Racing Champion.

The 650m race track, built in the shape of a traditional Chinese knot and covered in a spectacular array of LED lighting, is one of the largest ever built for a drone racing competition.

The pilots operate the battery-powered drones from the sidelines wearing special headgear that allows them view the race as if they were actually inside the drone.

Each pilot flies a total of nine laps alone in qualifying rounds. The top 64 will move forward into the final competition rounds where they will race with 5 other pilots. Races last about two or three minutes.

The championship runs through 1-4 November 2018 in the Shenzhen Universiade Center-Stadium, Shenzhen, China.
