Drone Swarm Search and Rescue
MIT is developing a drone swarm search and rescue platform that can locate people and objects under thick forest canopies. Using LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), no GPS is needed to avoid trees and other obstacles and map the area in 3D. A central ground station collects the data from multiple drones and stitches the maps together.
