Nanobots Inside Your Body

October 02, 2017

It bugs me when I hear experts call natural processes in the body nano robots or nanobots. It conjures up visions of tiny, autonomous, metal androids that have been injected into the bloodstream, that might swim their way to a trouble spot to make repairs.

The animations in the video above, although totally worthy of viewing, are simply illustrations of what is going on in your body, everyone's body, right now. By understanding the actions of proteins and cells, researchers hope to use them in future therapies. But even then, molecular biomachines should not be called nanobots, but biotechnology (the exploitation of biological processes for other purposes) at work.
