DUNE Neutrino Experiment

February 8, 2024

The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is a fascinating and ambitious experiment delving into the mysteries of neutrinos, some of the most abundant and elusive particles in the universe. It aims to unlock the secrets of neutrinos by studying their interactions and behaviors over a vast distance.

DUNE utilizes a powerful beam of neutrinos generated at Fermilab in Illinois. This beam travels 800 miles (1,300 kilometers) underground to a giant detector located at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in South Dakota. By comparing the neutrinos detected at both locations, scientists can observe how they change and interact on their journey.
