Infrared Telescopes

December 26, 2023

Infrared telescopes are a special type of telescope that can see light in the infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum. This is different from our eyes, which can only see visible light. Infrared light has longer wavelengths than visible light, so it can penetrate dust and gas clouds that would block visible light. The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is the most powerful infrared telescope ever built.

In this video, NASA JPL talks about infrared telescopes how they can reveal an invisible infrared universe. JWST website.
